Leads and Leadership–Can You Have One Without The Other?

You don’t have to be in network marketing to know that leads are your lifeblood if you are in any type of business. If you don’t have leads or customers, you certainly can’t make sales and without sales, you don’t survive.

BUT…leads are not all created equally. We all know that bribing your next door neighbor into joining your company isn’t the same quality lead as the person who is calling YOU and asking for information.

Let’s take this one step further, though. You may have someone call you for information but if you do not position yourself as the leader, the one who can provide guidance and support to help them achieve their goals, then that lead isn’t any better than the neighbor you had to bribe to join your opportunity. If you aren’t that leader that will help them make even a little money within the first 3-4 months, your new lead is gone and never to be seen again. They will be on to the next opportunity looking for that leader to help them get what they want.

So you think you don’t have the leadership skills needed? Think again. Everyone has the leadership ability to succeed in the online world but not everyone has had the opportunity to put their skills in action to show themselves and the world how great they really are.

If you think you ARE lacking in skills, the best way to learn is find a mentor. Pick his/her brain. It doesn’t have to be someone in your local area. With the internet and the world at your fingertips you can find someone virtually anywhere that is willing to share his/her knowledge with you.

If you’re still having trouble (although with Mike Dillard, Perry Marshall, etc floating around, I doubt you’re having too much trouble), read, read, and read and then observe, observe and observe. Don’t delete all the emails you get from the gurus. They can be incredible learning tools to add to your own swipe file. Don’t just watch the videos, study them and try to emulate the good aspects of them. If there are things that could be done better, take note of that, too.

The bottom line is if you want better quality leads and more leads that will convert, you have to change yourself to become the person it takes to lead the next person down the line. Success comes from assisting others get what they want. Be the leader!
